Description :

In 2001 I spent a happy week foraging for Liška goodies in Prague, lodging in room 311 of the Evropa Hotel on Václavské náměstí. This is of special significance to Liška fans because it is the room where Liška lived for many years, back in the days when this fine Art Nouveau building was known as the Grand Hotel Šroubek. This is a crappy little video diary I made at the time. Born 1922 in Smečno, died 1983 in Prague, Zdeněk Liška was the most prolific and important Czech film composer of his generation. Long term collaborator with Jan Švankmajer, Frantisek Vlácil and Karel Zeman. Master of instrumentation, his sound is instantly recognisable and endows with wit, beauty and quirkiness some of Europe's greatest films and animations.
